Great insights. Thank you for your work. Keep it up, but only after a good night 's rest. Blessings, Eduardo Azcarate

I am struggling with this with my eldest 8 year old daughter. I am so happy to see the reason for it thanks to your article. Do you have some pointers for me to help her anxiety? Thanks!

Thank you! Pretty new to Substack and learning the ropes. I would love to pm. Should have started with that! Thanks! We generally have the same routine every night but I’ll pay more attention to when she has these issues if there is a more readily seen reason. Blessings!❤️🙏🏻

I’m so sorry to hear that she is experiencing that. My eldest is also 8. I cannot give individualized advice on this platform, but I can share that I have universally recommended consistent routines which help to provide more security and grounding to kids who are anxious about future events.

However, sometimes there are other things going on when a kid is not falling asleep and staying (mostly) asleep through the night - eating certain kinds of food before bed, too much screen time close to bed (including social media which can contribute to anxiety), going to bed too early (7-11 yr olds should be awake 14-15 hours before going to bed).

If you are looking for other resources, I recommend readysetsleep.com and Emily Varon who has a great blog on a variety of sleep-related issues.

If you are not seeing progress with some of those first-line-of-defense strategies, I’d be happy to chat more with you through PM to see what options for support you can get.

Saying a prayer now for you and for her.
